Emma's Thoughts

For What Did the Raven Wish?

"Where did the name come from?", "Is that something out of The Lord of the Rings?", and "Are you Raven?" are just a few of the questions I’ve been asked lately about the name of the gallery. I’m not Raven. My name is Alicia Reid and I opened Raven’s Wish in June of 2007 when my former employers, Stan and Sue Myers, retired and closed Myers Frame & Stitch.

Searching for a new name for the gallery, I wanted something that would connect me to my love of art, natural history, geography, and travel. While in graduate school out west, I spent time watching ravens, hawks, crows, and magpies, wandering about in their world. What might a raven wish for? Wide-open spaces...colorful and shiny baubles...never-ending updrafts...days full of adventure. But mostly, I just liked the way the words sounded together.

Hence the name, Raven’s Wish, a distinctive art gallery and custom frame emporium featuring more than 40 artists who display work including pottery, jewelry, glass, metal, woodwork, sculpture, photography, and textiles, as well as acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings. Raven’s Wish is a full-service framing destination with expertise in custom design and superior presentation for small to large projects...and budgets.
